On the way down, we had to hit one of our favorite BBQ trailers just outside of Sterling. Apparently, it's also a favorite of some of the captains featured on the tv show Deadlist Catch.

Then on through the little town of Ninilchik...

...and about 5.5 hours after leaving Anchorage, just past Anchor Point, we made it to Stariski, our home for the next couple of nights.

As soon as the tent was up Abby tested it out, lounging inside the saftey of the protective mesh while enjoying the sunshine. Bryan looked on with amusement :)

After getting our campsite settled, we headed down to Homer to pick up a few last minute supplies (namely beer from the Homer Brewing Company!). There's the Homer Spit.
|
And of course we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a self-photo from the Homer lookout.
|
Back at the campground (which much to our surprise we had entirely to ourselves) we relaxed and listed to the Aces game on the radio (and heard their heartbreaking loss in game 7 of the Kelly Cup finals).
|
Later, we fixed some Jiffy Pop, a camp staple of ours. While it looks sunny in this picture, it was pretty chilly with the wind whipping in off the ocean.
